With average winter temperatures in the teens and low 20’s and energy prices on the rise is was not surprising that the Owners were concerned that their home not only be healthful, environmentally friendly, and energy efficient but that their heating system be reliable.
A two-zone HVAC system with dual fuel thermostats, a back-up 95% efficient propane condensing furnace with variable speed fan and outdoor two speed compressor unit were installed. When temperatures drop the heat pump is programmed to automatically shut down and the high efficiency furnace turns on. A Coleman 15kw (125amp) back up propane generator with a transfer switch was installed to secure the Owner’s comfort in case of a power failure.
A humidifier, electronic air cleaner, and radon mitigation system add to the comfort inside the home and also ensure high indoor air quality in this tightly, well insulated home.
