About Us
2008 Environmental Efficiency Honorable Mention
Our York Farmhouse was modified to meet the homeowner’s affordability and at the same time provides a level of energy efficiency which far exceeds the building code requirements. The home was constructed on a heavily wooded, steeply sloped, boulder strewn lot that had been in the family for generations.
In addition to energy efficiency, the homeowner desired an environmentally responsible dwelling which took advantage of on-site resources. First, the garage and family room were eliminated from the original plans.
This reduced the size of the footprint while allowing additional energy-efficient windows to be installed around the perimeter of the house to provide ample daylight in place of electrical lighting.
The on site trees, boulders, rocks, and stone were integrated in the construction and design of the home.
